When the leaves fall and darkness comes early, something exciting creeps through Brabant. Halloween is the season for spooky adventures, and nowhere does it fit better than in a province full of old stories, misty forests, and ancient legends. We've listed the best scary outings, from a real witch hunt to atmospheric ghost tours. Tip: the exact dates for 2026 can always be found on the outing's own website.

1. Hunt for a real witch

The Kempen region has its own witch: Zwarte Kaat (Black Kate), the infamous robber witch who, according to legend, terrorized the area as early as 1596. At Witch Hunt Bladel, you and your team go on a GPS scavenger hunt for her, through forests and the old village center. You solve riddles, follow hidden tracks, and unravel a mystery truly rooted in the region. Around Halloween, this outing is at its best: the story itself is already creepy, and the twilight makes it extra exciting. You play whenever you want, and the ticket is valid for an entire team of up to four people. Also read: why Witch Hunt is the ultimate Halloween outing in Brabant.

2. Ghost tour through the center of Oirschot

About a thirty-minute drive away, the monumental center of Oirschot transforms into one big scare zone every year. Halloween Oirschot is a 3-kilometer themed route full of street theater, light and sound shows, and houses that turn into haunted houses. It attracts thousands of visitors and is mainly intended for teenagers and adults (recommended age 10 to 12 years), with a milder children's edition on a separate evening. You can get there easily on foot or by bike.

3. Cheerful scares at DippieBoe in Best

For the little ones, DippieBoe at amusement park DippieDoe in Best is a bullseye. The entire park is transformed for children aged 2 to 12, with shows, games, and, as evening falls, a few live haunted houses. A little spooky, but certainly not too scary.

4. Halloween among the animals at Dierenrijk

At Dierenrijk in Mierlo, you can experience spooky fun among the animals during BOEH! A cozy, child-friendly Halloween experience about a thirty-minute drive away, ideal for families who prefer not to go too scary.

5. Pumpkins and fun at Toverland

Just across the provincial border, in Sevenum, Limburg, Toverland goes all out with tens of thousands of pumpkins. During the day, it's child-friendly, with shows and decorations for children up to twelve years old. As evening falls, the Halloween Nights begin, with scare zones and haunted houses for the brave aged 12 and up.

6. Spooky fun at Bobbejaanland

In the Belgian Kempen, a short half-hour drive away, Bobbejaanland celebrates Halloween extensively. The same day-trip culture as in our region, and a mix of attractions and scares for different ages. A nice option to swap Brabant for just across the border.

7. A misty autumn walk on the Cartierheide

Not everything has to be scary. A walk across the Cartierheide near Eersel in autumn already has something enchanting in itself: mist between the pines, mushrooms along the path, and perhaps a deer at dusk. Give the children an exciting story, and the most ordinary forest walk becomes an adventure.

8. Carve pumpkins and have spooky fun at home

Also part of it: a carved pumpkin on the doorstep, making your own lanterns, and transforming the house into a haunted house. A nice, accessible way to get the youngest children into the Halloween spirit before the real adventure begins.

9. Give a Halloween outing as a gift

Looking for an original gift for a horror fan? Give a witch hunt instead of just another thing. With a gift voucher, you choose the amount yourself, and the recipient plays whenever it suits them. Valid all year round and perfectly suited to the season.
